Kernel Secures $10 Million from Binance Labs to Pioneer Restaking on BNB Chain, Unlocking $100 Billion in Opportunities
Kernel has exciting news! They just secured funding from Binance Labs. This investment solidifies their role as a key player in the restaking infrastructure on the BNB Chain.
This milestone is a big step forward. It transforms BNB’s economic security into programmable trust. This change empowers decentralized applications (DApps), middleware, and the entire crypto ecosystem.
Kernel raised a total of $10 million from various investors. Some notable names include SCB Limited, Laser Digital, Bankless Ventures, and many others. This diverse backing shows strong belief in Kernel's vision.
Kernel is eager to keep building and pushing the limits of what restaking can do. While Ethereum has already seen a shift due to restaking, Kernel is breaking new ground on the BNB Chain. This innovation unlocks decentralized and scalable trust.
Since launching, Kernel has hit several impressive milestones:
- Over $1 billion in total value locked (TVL) with Kelp and Gain on Ethereum.
- More than 10 layer-two integrations for enhanced scalability.
- Over 120 DeFi integrations, driving rapid growth.
- More than 300,000 unique addresses, showing trust and adoption.
Kernel is part of a broader vision aimed at powering the future of decentralized finance (DeFi) through three main products:
- Kernel – A cross-chain restaking powerhouse on BNB Chain, with the mainnet launch coming soon.
- Kelp – Liquid restaking on Ethereum, where rsETH adoption is skyrocketing.
- Gain – Tokenized yields across DeFi, CeDeFi, and real-world assets (RWAs).
Together, these solutions unlock over $100 billion in opportunities across restaking, DeFi, CeDeFi, and RWAs.
Kernel aims to unify governance and incentives across Kelp, Kernel, and Gain. This strategy rewards early supporters and drives ecosystem growth. The first launch will take place on BNB Chain, using BNB liquid staking tokens (LSTs) and restaked BNB as economic security. Future plans include integrating Bitcoin (BTC) and its derivatives as restaked economic security.
Over 20 DApps will leverage Kernel’s economic security. These include the decentralized AI coprocessor Mira and the zero-knowledge proof aggregation protocol Electron. Several liquid staking tokens (LSTs) and liquid restaked tokens (LRTs) are collaborating with Kernel to enhance the utility of restaked assets.
In the long run, Kernel plans to expand to additional layer-ones. This will provide robust economic security and a foundation for innovative applications. Kernel integrates both native and liquid staking tokens across BNB, BTC, and other yield-bearing assets to improve their utility and capital efficiency.
By creating a shared economic security ecosystem, Kernel enables developers to bootstrap projects more efficiently. It also offers users new opportunities to maximize the utility of their assets. These innovations reduce barriers for protocols and foster a developer-friendly environment.
Alex Odagiu, investment director at Binance Labs, stated, “Kernel exemplifies the type of innovative project that aligns with our mission. We want to bring more users onto Web 3.0 by supporting meaningful technology and advancing the ecosystem.”
Amitej Gajjala, co-founder of Kernel, expressed excitement about the support from Binance Labs. He said, “Their backing has been instrumental in helping us build a more secure, scalable, and utility-rich ecosystem on BNB Chain. We’re not just growing the restaking space; we’re unlocking new dimensions of utility and resilience for BNB-based assets.”
Kernel is not just building infrastructure. It’s reshaping trust in the ecosystem. Users can follow their journey through various platforms: @KelpDAO (X), @KernelDAO (X), Telegram, and Discord.
Kernel is pioneering restaking on the BNB Chain. This design aims to provide decentralized shared security and accelerate innovation and growth across the ecosystem. Founded by experts in DeFi and restaking, Kernel's ecosystem is already over 25 projects and growing rapidly. By lowering entry barriers for protocols and unlocking higher rewards, Kernel empowers developers and users alike.
