Long-Dormant Crypto Whales Resurface, Moving Millions in Bitcoin After Years of Inactivity
A long-dormant crypto whale has finally woken up after years of inactivity. This whale moved millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin (BTC), according to on-chain data.
Recent data from Whale Alert shows that a wallet, which has been asleep for over 12 years, suddenly became active. It sent 159 BTC, valued at about $11.75 million.
This wallet first received 759 Bitcoin back in September 2012 for a total cost of just $7,974. That means the average price for this BTC was around $10.50. It’s impressive to see that the whale has made gains of over 700,000%!
Currently, this wallet still holds 590 BTC, worth approximately $40.9 million at this moment.
Whale Alert also noticed other long-dormant whales waking up this week. One whale, after being inactive for more than 13 years, transferred all 20 Bitcoin from a dormant address. This address is now valued at $1,460,630.
Another whale woke up after over 11 years. It moved 14 Bitcoin, achieving a profit of more than 157,343%. This wallet, which was activated after 11.6 years, held Bitcoin worth just $670 back in 2013.
Additionally, Whale Alert found a whale that surfaced after 13 years. It sent 1.5 BTC to the crypto exchange Kraken. This dormant address contained 28 BTC, now valued at $1,995,139, and was activated after 13.6 years.
Lastly, a wallet that had been inactive for more than 11 years suddenly transferred about 5 BTC to the crypto exchange Coinbase. This dormant address contained 16 BTC, now worth $1,166,157, and was activated after 11.4 years.
As of now, Bitcoin is trading at $69,456, down 1.3% in the last 24 hours.
