Pro-Crypto Wave: Over 250 Supportive Candidates Elected to Congress, Backed by Coinbase Advocacy Group
Stand With Crypto, a digital asset advocacy group backed by Coinbase, reports that over 250 pro-crypto candidates have made their way into Congress.
In the recent presidential election, Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris. Alongside this, 257 pro-crypto candidates won seats in the House, and 16 secured positions in the Senate.
However, it’s important to note that 115 anti-crypto politicians were also elected to the House, with 12 winning their Senate races.
Most of the pro-crypto candidates come from states like California (20), Texas (30), Florida (21), Georgia (10), Michigan (10), and both New York and Pennsylvania, which each had 12.
One standout winner is Dave McCormick, who claimed a Senate seat in Pennsylvania. Earlier this year, he stressed the need to embrace blockchain technology. He believes it can create new job opportunities and boost national security.
On the other hand, John Deaton, known for representing XRP and crypto holders in court, fell short against incumbent Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts. He lost by over 600,000 votes.
In a recent post on the social media platform X, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong shared his thoughts on the election results. He said they show that Americans genuinely care about crypto.
“Welcome to the new members of America’s most pro-crypto Congress ever. Over 219 pro-crypto candidates have now been elected to the House and Senate,” he noted.
He continued, “Tonight, the crypto voter has spoken decisively—across party lines and in key races nationwide. Americans want clear rules for digital assets, and we look forward to working with the new Congress to make that happen.”
